As a clinical social worker practicing in high-stress environments for over sixteen years, I eventually found myself feeling totally exhausted-- sleep-deprived, drained, unhealthy, and disconnected from my loved ones and myself.  In a moment of desperation, I tried a Yoga Nidra meditation class, and, over time, experienced a total transformation in my ability to care for myself as well as my approach to life, career, and family.  Practicing Yoga Nidra meditation for the past several years has enabled me to experience greater inner peace, better sleep, improved health-- and to become more present in my every day life.

Inspired by my personal experiences practicing Yoga Nidra, I wanted to share this amazing practice in our community, and travelled to the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health to train with Jennifer Reis, creator of Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra® in order to become a certified Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra® instructor.  In addition, I recently completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Adrian Rizzolo at  Yogala in Los Angeles, CA, focusing on Bhakti Yoga, hands-on healing, and meditation. I have a special interest in Restorative Yoga and facilitating empowerment through deep rest, self-inquiry, and self expression.

I hold a Bachelor of Science from Boston University in Speech-Language Pathology and a Master's of Social Work with a Healthcare Concentration from Barry University.  I believe in the transformative power of music, nature, love, compassion, and community.  I am a lifelong student and love to educate myself on all things wellness-- yoga, eastern philosophy, nutrition, traditional and complementary medicine, and on and on!  I live in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles with my husband and son.

Ananda means "bliss," and it is my wish to guide everyone to find theirs.

"Despite practicing yoga regularly, I've always struggled with meditation.  Quieting my mind seems just out of reach for me.  I found Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra to be more accessible.  Sydney's calming voice and reassuring presence helped me feel at ease and open to the experience.  Practicing Yoga Nidra seems like a great way to show myself the attention and care I deserve.  I'm certain that with continued practice, Sydney will give me the tools I need to care for myself the way I care for my patients."
